What is  CDS?

Combine Defence services exams are taken by the union public service commission board for recruitment of candidates into defensible government jobs in the military, navy, or air force. CDS is divided into two parts Indian military academy (IMA) and the officer training academy (OTA). To appear for any of the CDS exams a candidate must be a graduate, to get into the navy or air force a candidate must have an engineering degree, for IMA age criteria is 19 to 24 years, for navy age criteria is 19 to 24 years, for OTA the required age criteria are 19 to 25 years. CDS exam is conducted twice a year in the month of February and November. The candidate who clears the CDS exam are further called for a face-to-face interview for the SSB exam upon clearing the SSB they are appointed as respected training academies. Only unmarried candidates are eligible to sit for the exam and there are no limitations in the number of attempts till age criteria are met.

                                                          Content of CDS exam

To clear through, you have a complete and through knowledge of the syllabus, along with a detailed analysis of the previous year’s question paper. The CDS exam consists of English, General knowledge, and Elementary math for IMA, Indian Naval academy, and Indian Air force but for officers training academy the syllabus is English and general knowledge. A negative marking system is present in the exam and 1/3 marks are deducted for every wrong answer. This exam is MCQ bases exam and only one option is right. No marks will be deducted if the question is unanswered.

SSB is tougher to crack, as the SSB exam is conducted over a period of 5 days where they will be taking screening tests i.e. officer intelligence test, psychology test consisting of verbal and non-verbal modules, picture perfection description test, image observation test, story writing test, group discussion test, personality test and much more
